Cozy, Winter Family Photos in Boulder, Colorado

November 24, 2018

The day before my session with this crew was a sleety, windy mess. It was the kind of day that makes me want to hide under the covers and never come out. It was could, wet and miserable. I checked the weather forecast every hour, hoping the weather would turn and we could still have our session outdoors in the winter wonderland that was just starting to blanket the ground.

Sure enough, I woke up in the morning to sunshine and warmer temps. You have to love Colorado! I’m not saying I wouldn’t have strapped on my camera and braved a little cold weather, but when you have kiddos, things change. Sunshine is our friend and Colorado blessed us with just that.

NCAR set the backdrop for this stunning maternity shoot. I typically brave the crowds of Chautauqua but this little spot was a refreshing break. Little man’s nursery will be forest decor and Mom and Dad channeled this during their shoot. Jennifer picked this spot and it was absolutely stunning. The light, the trees, the tall, dreamy grass. I loved every spot we found and I can’t wait to go back to hike this area myself. Mamas to be, Jennifer’s dress is from Pink Blush. I highly recommend this boutique for maternity wear. Affordable and amazing! Most are nursing friendly as well. Win-win 🙂

July 1, 2018

The Deblers met me at the crack of dawn to take in the absolutely perfect morning. I think I counted exactly one cloud in the sky. I love photographing visitors to the area. Growing up in nearby Allenspark I always am itching to show off the beauty surrounding Estes Park. I love to be the tour guide and I love “touring” with a family up for a new location, even if it is way too early in the morning!2018-07-01_0019.jpg

Sophie (Denver Newborn Photographer)

April 18, 2018

I ventured to Denver for a newborn session with the sweetest little babe last weekend.

Welcome to the world little Sophie! Mom and Dad are navigating this new world as a trio but your tiny toes and snuggles are making everything worth it. Your favorite animal is an elephant and you love to chow down every second you get. Your sister Gracie isn’t sure how you will fit into the family but she is ready to do everything in her power to make you happy.

You are already so blessed little one! Your family loves you so, so much.

Nick and I planned an impromptu baby moon (we took a trip when I was 26 weeks pregnant with Charlie too!) at the absolute worst time. A few months ago we thought, hey, it will be awesome to get away and unwind a bit. In reality, we are looking to sell our house and have just broken ground on building a house closer to my family. AKA we are in a constant state of chaos the past few weeks. A trip was the last thing we could get our heads wrapped around.

That being said, I’m so glad we jetted off to Austin anyways. I wandered around the city with Chelsea and her two boys and it was such a breath of fresh air. Jude and Charlie are only a few months difference in age so we told toddler stories. There is nothing better than realizing you aren’t the only mom that struggles with a tornado child! I also got to see some spots in Austin I never would’ve noticed otherwise.

I’m going to make it a new goal to shoot a portrait session every city we travel to! Now back to the chaos…

There is nothing, and I repeat nothing, that makes me happier than when families bring along their fur children for their photoshoots. I don’t care what you say, dogs are humans. They have souls, they complete us. And when they are as ridiculously adorable as Mason and Tucker, they make everything more fun. We woke up to a dreary, rainy Tuesday for this photoshoot and still these pups toughed it out. And Mason’s (golden doodle’s) fur remained flawless. If you are on the fence about bringing your fur babies to your photoshoot, I will push you to the fur side. Bring them. 100X over, bring them!

The Mama Project: Raihna

October 24, 2017

The Mama Project.
This year has shifted my focus. Motherhood has opened my eyes to a beautiful new life and it has made me both appreciate and respect all the mamas out there who are walking this journey with me. So I’m making a commitment to feature these strong women. Their hopes, dreams and fears. We are all in this together after all <3 My amazing mama today is Raihna and her story is below. If you are interested in the Mama Project and being featured, please reach out to me. You tell your story and the photo is on me! As moms we take hundreds of photos on the daily and are visible in so few of them. Each second with your family is precious and I would be honored to capture even one sweet moment.

2017-10-24_0001.jpgMy journey to motherhood started out like any other hoping, wishing, dreaming for my sweet bundle of joy to begin our family together. 2 days before our wedding Anniversary we finally got that positive we waited for, for what seemed like an eternity to get.

2017-10-24_0002.jpgMy Baby. My now 2 year old. Calvin. He has taught me the meaning of walking around with your heart outside your body. He has shown me the depths of selflessness, pure bliss, amazement, and fear. He has opened my eyes to the wonderment of what it feels like to be chosen as someone’s mommy and to feel as if his soul knew yours long before you did.  He gave me this sense of pride and confidence. Pushing every comfort zone I ever let myself fall into out the window. He needed my dedication like nothing else in this world and I didn’t know I had it in me until he was here. Through his tears and mine. Through our smiles, giggles, and for what felt like endless nursing sessions. Navigating intuition and emotions beyond what I thought existed this boy made me who I am today and prepared me for the biggest surprise step in my motherhood adventure.

2017-10-24_0003.jpgMy Identical Twin Boys. Owen and Oliver. This positive caught us of guard and was an unexpected need in my life as a busy working mom and wife. These 2 have shown me the true grit of motherhood. The helplessness and heartache NICU moms experience. The terrifying reality of creating a life that needs more than what you can provide in those early moments and darkness that can creep in when it seems your motherhood journey is so out of your hands. As I type this staring at my sweet, healthy, now 6 month old butterballs. I have a renewed sense of gratitude for the power of motherhood, this short (seemingly endless) time we have with our babies, and most of all for patience and the capability to multitask!

2017-10-24_0004.jpg
My heart grew 2x over when these 2 arrived and I can’t begin to describe the magic they have already brought to our lives.   The bond only they share and the one forming with big brother Calvin I feel privileged enough to get to witness. These boys are my world.

2017-10-24_0005.jpgI am now a temporary stay at home mom who’s definition of worth as a women is no longer solely in my career or as a wife but in the tiny humans I raise. A definition I’m still navigating. I am a daydreamer, a goal getter, and an inspiration seeker for everything that makes people whole in this world.

2017-10-24_0006.jpgI can only wish and hope to inspire my children with the fire of whatever their passions become. To fight fiercely with gratitude for wherever their journey takes them and whatever it unfolds to be. My wish remains the same for every woman out there.

2017-10-24_0007.jpgDo not fear the moments that grow from slowing down and the beauty that is your very own story of motherhood.

Two Year Old Birthday Photos in Estes Park Colorado

June 30, 2016

Hard to believe it’s been two years since this little heartbreaker was welcomed into the world! He’s grown a little size and a TON in personality. Tom Cruise better watch out. Monroe loves children’s literature, dressing fancy — but also dump trucks and trains.  On a side note, isn’t it fascinating how entertained our little ones are with the simplest of items? These two suitcases provided a full hour’s worth of fun for Monroe. I’m going to put a note into my little black book of photography to pull out this trick again someday!
