Longmont is simple in the best way. Open space, good light, kids running wild, and families settling into each other. That’s usually all we need.

Authentic Moments. honestly told.

LONGMONT family photographer

Longmont has that wide-open, breathe-deep energy.

Big skies, quiet roads, fields that go on forever. It’s less about dramatic mountain views and more about space. Space for kids to run, parents to slow down, and everyone to settle into themselves.

Sessions here tend to unfold naturally. We walk, we explore, we follow the light. It feels calm, grounded, and a little nostalgic… like the kind of evening you wish you could bottle up.

Why I Love Capturing Families in Longmont

Unhurried • Relaxed • Unposed • Genuine •

Because childhood doesn't last forever, but these memories will.

Book a Session

Longmont families feel wonderfully unpolished in the best way. Kids show up ready to run, parents show up ready to roll with it, and nobody’s too worried about a little wind in their hair or dirt on their shoes. I love how relaxed it feels — like we’re just meeting up for an evening outside instead of “doing photos.” Toddlers wander, siblings wrestle, seniors lean into that almost-grown confidence, and somewhere in the middle we get those honest, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments that actually feel like your life right now.

What to Expect: Your Unposed Longmont Session

"We have worked with Megan for multiple family shoots now. I'm a bit embarrassed it's taken me this long to write a review. From our very first experience we were impressed by Megan's welcoming nature and easy going personality. It was clear from booking to end we were not going to regret our choice. She shoots life as it's unfolding, capturing beautiful moments without you having to stress about the perfect pose. What she sees behind the lens creates beautiful imagery you will not only cherish for a lifetime but you will want to keep booking her as your life grows!"

I love the backcountry-feeling roads near NCAR. The kind where you pull over, step out, and suddenly it’s golden grass, mountain air, and kids running like they’ve been released into the wild. In the summer everything glows soft and warm. In the fall the grasses turn that perfect honey color and the Flatirons do their dramatic thing in the background. Even winter has its quiet magic — muted tones, big skies, everyone bundled and snuggly.

Favorite Longmont Locations + Seasonal Moments

Hidden Treasures

Boulder has that dramatic mountain energy — the Flatirons, the overlooks, the iconic backdrops. Longmont is something different. It's wider, quieter, more open. There's a breathe-deep quality to it that I love. Sessions here tend to feel less like you're performing in front of a landmark and more like you're just... outside together. The light stretches differently, the fields go on forever, and there's no pressure to get the "Boulder shot." It's its own thing and honestly some of my most natural, relaxed sessions happen in Longmont.

How is a Longmont session different from a Boulder session?

Longmont has some of my absolute favorite wide open spaces in all of Northern Colorado. McIntosh Lake is stunning — especially at golden hour when the water reflects everything and the sky goes on forever. Union Reservoir has that same open expansive feel with beautiful light. Sandstone Ranch is a hidden gem — trails, open fields, and that quintessential Colorado landscape without the crowds. And honestly some of my favorite Longmont sessions happen on the back roads just outside town where it's just golden grass, big sky, and your family. Simple and perfect.

What are the best locations for family photos in Longmont?

Longmont Family Photo Session FAQs

Longmont is basically made for kids who can't sit still. Wide open fields to run through, trails to explore, rocks to climb, sticks to collect. I never want kids posed and smiling at a camera anyway — the best shots happen when they're just being themselves. Some of my favorite Longmont moments have happened when a toddler spots something in the grass and just takes off running. Let them go. That's when the magic happens. The more energy your family brings the better the photos usually are.

We have little kids who have a hard time sitting still — will that be a problem?

Late summer and fall are my personal favorites in Longmont. Late August through October the fields turn that perfect warm honey color, the light goes golden early, and the sunsets are absolutely ridiculous in the best way. Summer is beautiful too — everything is lush and green and the evenings are long and warm. Spring has its own charm with fresh greens and that breezy just-got-outside-again energy. Even winter works beautifully in Longmont — the wide open spaces look dramatic under big gray skies and everyone gets to be bundled and cozy. My honest answer is whenever your family is ready, Longmont will deliver something beautiful.
